Charlotte Jane Oedekoven was born in Edmonton, Canada. A few years later the family moved to Munich, Germany. Very young she demonstrated a great passion and talent for drawing and was sent to art school at the age of 8, at the Art Academy of Munich, doing her first oil painting at 9 years old. In 2003 she graduated from High School and continued in Art History at the University of Munich (LMU) for 2 years. Charlotte discontinued her studies and decided to pursue an education in Design, since she always had a strong passion for Architecture and Interior Design as well. She moved to North Western Germany in 2005 for a one-year-program, which introduced her to the basics in Graphic-, Product- and Interior Design. During this year she applied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHDK) and was excepted.
In 2006 she moved to Zurich, Switzerland and did her BFA in Industrial Design, specializing in Scenographical Design, which layed emphasis on Stage, Set and Exhibition Design. After graduating in 2009, Charlotte left Europe and moved to Miami, Florida, where she currently resides, working as a Freelance Designer, while focusing on her Art Career. Her portfolio has grown immensely since then and her style has taken its own distinctive direction as a lively mix of Street/Pop Art, Pop Surrealism and Cartoon, using mainly acrylics, spray paint and mixed media. Besides her paintings, Charlotte still draws a lot.
In 2011 she illustrated the Children`s Book “Charlotte`s Phantastische Geschichten” and is currently working on her Comic Book “The SuperUschi`s”. In 06 and 07 she also worked as an illustrator for WWF Switzerland. Since 2011 Charlotte has been Resident Artist at Gallery 212 in the Miami Wynwood Art District and her work is finding great recognition.
